ABOUT SIMONE

Simone is 35 years old, mother of daughter Zoë, wife of Joep Pelt and lives in Amsterdam (The Netherlands). She is a painter, works one day a week as a doctor, plays the piano and accordion, sings and writes songs and poems.

As a child she wanted to help people and so she finally chose to study medicine in 2010. After completing her studies, she could no longer suppress her passion for drawing and painting. At the end of 2017 she painted every single day.

She found out that you can also help people in other ways, especially by listening and connecting. And she seeks this connection in art. She does this by capturing special moments on canvas, sharing emotions and breaking taboos.

In fact, her paintings are about life. The ''struggle of being human'', but also the beautiful moments. The struggles include for example addiction, psychological problems and physical illnesses. By sharing this, she hopes people feel less alone. The beautiful moments are about love; self-love, but also love for a partner, child, family and friends.

Often there are underlying messages; "you are not alone and you are good enough just the way you are". She tries to remind you of this every day with a painting of hers on the wall.

Simone also hopes to motivate and inspire others with her work. She wants to show that you don't just have to do what you studied for, what others expect of you, what belongs in our society or what you demand of yourself. You can feel free, freed from the rules we made up ourselves and do what you really like to do!
